a mexican-themed wedding in the wine country • calistoga, ca

Not only do this bride and I share over 20 years of friendship with each other and our families but we also share a love of Latin America— in particular our south of the border neighbor, Mexico. Laurie and Steve's wedding was a perfect blend of Mexico infused into the Wine Country: a Mariachi band playing with Calistoga vineyards in the backdrop; Sonoma white and red wines paired with homemade margaritas and sangria; and delicious Puerto Rican food by Marin County favorite Sol Food.

This wedding screams color—from the handmade red wedding dress from Thailand to the Mexican tin cards to the brightly colored hanging paper cutouts to the Día de los Muertos wedding cake topper—making all the detail shots that much more eye-popping. Felicidades a Los Buehlers!!

ali + bahar tie the knot • walnut creek, ca

This wedding was all about mixing tradition and cultures: an impromptu wedding in Vegas followed by a wonderfully warm traditional wedding with family and friends; a traditional Persian wedding knife dance leading up to a customary wedding cake cutting; an absolutely crowd-rousing Persian band's tunes mixed in with modern beats by a DJ. What I loved most about this wedding was the incessant energy pulsing throughout the evening and the impressive nonstop dancing (try 90% of the entire wedding letting loose on the dancefloor for a straight hour before dinner was even served). I was humming Hamid Talebzadeh tunes for quite awhile after!
